Dr Linda Falkner. I have lived experience of being a daughter, wife, mother, aunt, and grandmother of neurodiverse relatives. I also have a keen interest on sensory processing, having various sensory challenges and a neurodiverse brain myself.
I have a life-long interest in educational underachievement, which led to me pursuing a doctorate in educational psychology, ‘to prove them wrong’, after being written off by my local Grammar School (now Park School) at the age of 16. This journey really opened my eyes to the challenges experienced by neurodiverse students in a neurotypical educational system, and enabled me to thrive after leaving school, qualifying as a teacher (for 6 years) and subsequently as an Educational Psychologist (for over 25 years). I am passionate about individualised rather than ‘one size fits all’ approaches. Following my recent retirement, I became a Trustee to help families strive for the educations their offspring deserve, and to help them enjoy rather than dread going to school/college/university.
